Josh Norman, part Native American: 'A redskin playing for the Redskins'
We might be in for a pretty fun season with Josh Norman.
Norman, who said going from the Carolina Panthers to the Washington Redskins was “like going from a dictatorship to freedom,” had some interesting things to say in an ESPN the Magazine story, via the Washington Post. It should come as no surprise the All-Pro cornerback had no issue with talking about his new team’s controversial nickname.
“Redskins is not offensive to me,” Norman told ESPN. “I’m part Native American on both my mom’s and my dad’s side. It’s kind of a funny thing, though. A redskin playing for the Redskins.”
Norman also calls himself “the best cornerback on earth” in the story, and says about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, “Horrible. He’s straight horrible.”

Norman always had interesting things to say when he was with the Panthers last season, as he was becoming one of the NFL’s best defensive players. The ESPN story said the Panthers asked Norman to “tone down the trash-talk.” So if what we got last season was him toning it down, no wonder Fox Sports will have him as a regular contributor.
Norman should be pretty fun to follow this season. Hopefully Washington doesn’t also ask him to tone it down.
